Corey Nathan

What are the two things that we are told to never discuss at the dinner table? Especially with in-laws. Religion and Politics. With technology and the age of information that we live in, you would think that discussing ideas of those two categories would be lively, engaging, civilized. But we could not be any further from such a position. We fight and bicker over the most non-sensical, out of context bits, and try to claim the higher ground. This week on The Malliard Report, Jim welcomes a guest that dives headfirst into both topics regularly with his own Podcast “Talkin’ Politics and Religion Without Killin’ Each Other.” This week we sit down with Corey Nathan and discuss just that…religion and politics.

Corey was raised in an observant Jewish household attending an Orthodox synagogue. His family is mostly from Brooklyn, New York, but Corey grew up in Jersey. In his late 20s, much to the family's chagrin, Corey became a born-again Christian. Not long after this epiphany, he began to find many of the default social and political positions of contemporary American Evangelicalism to be at odds with the very Scriptures that are supposed to be Christians' authority for how to engage in the world.

If you are looking at diving into politics and religion without killing anyone, make sure to head over to Corey’s podcast home politicsandreligion.us and give his show a listen.
